DREILINDEN

2.00 - 45.00

A fine example of the so-called "Pop-Architecture" by the vibrant architect Rainer G. Rümmler.
The illustration depicts the now-abandoned gas station, which is part of a larger project commissioned in 1970 by West Berlin to serve as a counterpoint to the DDR's "check-in" Terminal and to function as a rest stop next to the then-called American Checkpoint Bravo for travelers crossing into Bayern or Niedersachsen.
Completed in 1973, it was distinguished by its "candy" colors and round shapes. 🌈 However, the building became obsolete after only a few years due to the easing of the border crossing process and its location so close to Berlin.
