The two-family structure designed by Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret in Stuttgart.
Mies Van Der Rohe who was coordinating the development of the Wiessenhof Estate invited Le Corbusier and his cousin to design two detached residences for educated, middle-class families.
The final building is actually the result of a redesign by the architects that converted one of the original two houses into two smaller attached dwellings due to budget concerns and size reduction of the built area.
The design utilized reinforced concrete to emphasize the elements of Le Corbusier’s five-point manifesto: pilotis, the roof graden, the free plan, the long window and the free façade.
